Why rice flour paste? I am living on an island that does not produce wheat; I need paste for a sculpture project. After researching many alternatives and experimenting and destroying several prototypes, I have discovered a beautiful mixture for homemade rice flour paste. I actually prefer it to the wheat-paste that I had used in Canada. Rice flour paste is very smooth, sticky and has a beautiful congee smell.
Recipe:
Half a cup or rice flour
One table spoon of salt
2 Cups of water
Pour half a cup of rice flour into a cup or measuring cup, or any sort of vessel. |
Mix the flour with water so that all lumps are dissolved. The liquid should be runny and look like milk. |
Boil water and salt and pour in the rice flour / water mixture. It will thicken immediately with the heat. |
Simmer for 5 minutes, or until desired texture is reached. Let cool and it's ready! |
